Chapter 3 — All the Time in the World — 007 First Light Walkthrough

Overview

The signature chapter of the first act. The Grand Carpathian Hotel sprawls across terraces, press tents, reception, manager’s office, study, laundry, three guest rooms (205, 206, 207), a chimera-themed dining room, a wine cellar, and a network of secret tunnels. 27 named challenges — one of the heaviest counts in the entire game. The chapter closes with a high-speed road chase and a “catch the plane” set-piece that hands you straight to Bond’s first real confrontation with “009.”

Spoiler note: the blond man you’re chasing is a misdirect. That gets paid off in Chapter 4.

Objectives (in order)

  1. Drive to the hotel.
  2. Park the car.
  3. Infiltrate the hotel — three routes (see below).
  4. Search for the blond man — pickpocket the Staff Key, eavesdrop on maids and Mr. Prendergast.
  5. Get to the laundry — Cellar Key from the Study, or a door code.
  6. Get through the laundry — Bellhop Outfit + the Room 206 note.
  7. Investigate Room 206 — find all 6 clues for the Elementary challenge.
  8. Pursue the blond man.
  9. Investigate the dining room — torn page on a trolley.
  10. Solve the chimera puzzle: Lion → Goat → Snake.
  11. Wine-cellar fight + bomb defuse.
  12. Car chase — Floor It (top speed) and Firebrand (5 explosive barrels).
  13. Catch the plane — No Brakes + Travelling Light.

Three infiltration routes

Press badge. Eavesdrop on the journalist in the tan pantsuit on the upper terrace. Her colleague’s badge is in a grey concrete flower pot on the lower terrace railing. A second press badge sits in a metal case inside the security tent — dart-phone the guard, sneak past the other.

Self Check-In (lighter + window). Pick up a Lighter (staffer on a bench or the man on the phone). Set fire to the wheelbarrow of dry leaves left of the security tent. Vault the railing during the distraction, climb the drainpipe, hang along the ledge to the open window above the security tent.

Brute force. Vault the fence near the security tent into the flower beds, stay in the perimeter, hop the back railing, climb the same drainpipe to the same window.

Walkthrough (key beats)

Hotel infiltration. Press Only is faster; Self Check-In unlocks a juicier challenge cluster. Pickpocket Staff Keys from the vacuum-cleaning employee and a later guard — two keys gives flexibility for Housekeeping (Room 205) and the Cellar/Laundry path.

Room 206 Elementary. You need all six clues: keycard holder, security protocol, newspaper, room service receipt, wallet, discarded suit. Sweep the room methodically before triggering the next pursuit beat.

Chimera puzzle. The torn page on the trolley near the dining-room entrance has the order: Lion (head) → Goat (back) → Snake (tail). The banners around the dining room repeat the design as backup. Wrong combinations force restart, so confirm before you commit. Solve it first try for the Chimera challenge.

Wine-cellar fight. Smash the wine racks for environmental kills — they count toward A Beautiful Waste (destroy 5 premium wine bottles). The bomb defuses with a single Q-Watch hack once you’ve cleared the room.

Car chase. Stay at top speed for Floor It. Shoot the explosive barrels you pass for Firebrand; Greenway shoots from the passenger side, so flank the road to give him angles.

Catch the plane. No Brakes — dislodge the vehicle locking mechanism. Travelling Light — throw three hostiles from the aircraft. Both happen on the same plane during a 60-second window.

Dart Phone + Smoke Pod — IGN’s Purist walkthrough call. Dart Phone separates patrols around the terrace and study; Smoke Pod breaks line-of-sight during the wine-cellar alert and the laundry approach.

  • The chase punishes hesitation. Don’t tap the brakes.
  • This is the densest collectible run before Uninvited. Save a Bellhop disguise for the upstairs sweep.
