Overview

Malta is where 007 First Light slows down to teach you the spy half of the spy thriller. IO Interactive’s official tagline for the location reads, “Undergo gruelling agent training with the best and brightest on the sunny shores of Malta,” and that is exactly the brief: golden-hour stone walls, recruits running drills, and Selina Tan’s TacSim instructors quietly scoring everything Bond does. The Needle’s Eye is the headline mission here — Bond enters the SAS compound on the back of Greenway’s car and steps into a structured training arc that doubles as the game’s open-stealth tutorial.

The Maltese map runs the breadth of an old coastal fort. You move from the car-ride entrance and the basic-training yard up through an advanced compound that introduces the bluff mechanic, social cover, and unarmed takedowns. The docks at the end of the SAS arc are where the game hands you your first real Casino Royale-style melee fight against another recruit. Malta is also one of the chapters with a real low-pressure collectible sweep — easy if you finish the chapter once and come back via Chapter Select.
